The Grunin for Law and Social Entrepreneurship at NYU School of Law has awarded the 2024 Grunin Prize. The Grunin Prize aims to reward the innovation, potential impact, and replicability and/or scalability of projects and solutions developed by lawyers to advance the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. The Grunin Prize was awarded on June 4, 2024 as part of the Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing—in the US and Beyond, co-hosted at NYU School of Law by the Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship and the Impact Investing Legal Working Group.

The 2024 Grunin Prize recipients are the legal teams at Calvert Impact and Morgan Lewis, for the Cut Carbon Note program. Employing a novel securitization structure, the program uses $50 million in capital assets to finance sustainability upgrades in commercial buildings like the Coliseum in Minneapolis (a revitalized hub for small businesses owned by people of color) to reduce carbon emissions. The Cut Carbon Note is unique among similar products in being available to retail investors.
