  1. How do you navigate the 6 “C”s of Nonprofit Sea Change? (Capacity, Curiosity, Conversation, Collaboration, Creativity, and Compassion)

All of the 6 “C”s are important in the nonprofit world. However, for me, collaboration stands out the most. It’s more important to work together and become stronger than it is to fight each other for a piece of the pie. We are all in this together, to help others and to take care of those who need our services.

  1. When did you realize you wanted to work in the nonprofit world? Tell us about this journey.

Prior to joining VNA, I worked at a hospital. I had to go out on leave and did not return. I contacted a temp agency who connected me to a job that was truly meaningful to me. As manager of the front office, I saw clients come in who were hungry or homeless. I bought candy to leave in a jar at the desk so they could help themselves. It was the smallest of gestures, but they felt that they were cared about as clients. I knew being in the nonprofit world where I could help others and make them feel seen, heard and cared for was the right place for me.

  1. What’s your favorite fun activity to do at the Central Jersey Shore?

I love to go to the beach and outdoor restaurants at the shore.

  1. How do you practice self-care/stress relief?

I was taught the importance of self-care at an early age by my mom. She taught me how to do my nails which became part of my self-care routine along with at-home facials and foot soaks.

  1. Do you have a favorite inspirational quote?

“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love.”- Maya Angelou
